Scrap the mini and the maxi, its all about the 'midi'.

THE MIDI SKIRT

This wonderful purchase of mine was from a little charity shop in my home town. It was priced at only 2.99! Bargain. I have to admit, that yes, I have jumped on the band wagon of the midi skirt phase. But to be honest, I can seriously picture myself wearing this tons in the next few weeks. AFTER, I have altered it because its a size 18! I have started though, so I will post piccys soon. Absolutely loving the print though. I have been looking for a while for one that I actually like and thats cheap. This one fits the bill perfectly.

Heres some others that I found which I also really liked.

QUILT UPDATE!
The squares are coming in slowly! But I am getting there. This means that I can start putting it together very soon. A lovely friend of mine (who is also making a quilt) has given me some off cuts. We are planning on swapping our fabrics so we get lots of diverese patterns and to save money! Which has majorly helped the collection process! Im so looking forward to putting it together. I feel like I need a few more and then I can start. I shall keep you updated.

Arm jewelry

I saw a bracelet like this on a film I recently watched, I thought it was such a good idea. It would be great for the Summer, so it's a shame I've only just discovered I like them! Still, we do have a couple of weeks left. They had some pretty cheap ones on Amazon (like the one below). They weren't silver, but unlike bracelets, they probably wouldn't tarnish. They are on my wish list!

NEW PROJECT for September.

QUILT MAKING

I have started collecting squares of fabric, and I am planning on making a double sized quilt. I have so much fabric just lying around, but I really like some of it. So to not waste it, making a quilt is a perfect solution.
This is just an example, but Ill post my finished one, when its complete!

I would LOVE one of these, next pay check?? :D

Lets go to Africa

African Safari
A while ago I mentioned that I had a love for African print. I have been on the hunt since & I found this bracelet and a bag (I had found pictures on a blog of a bohemian African bag and immediately needed to have one!)
This bracelet was from Primark! It was only £1.50. But it goes with everything and I've worn it so much since I bought it.

This is the bag that I purchased a few weeks ago. It looks great witha plain outfit as it makes it much more interesting and makes the colours from the bag 'pop'. It was only £16.99 from TKMAXX. It's probably my signature buy of this Summer!

make your 'knick knacks' smell divine!

Lavender Bags For Your Knicker Drawer.

I had some lavender in my garden that was starting to drop. Lavender to buy isn't expensive, but its more rewarding if you use everything that you have prepared. I had to make sure that the lavender dried out TIP- keep lavender in the oven after its been on to dry out. The pattern is a simple heart shape that you can draw your self or get off the internet. There are instructions online that you can use as well. You will also need lace and a button. I also stuffed the heart with cotton wool buds, just beacause I had limited amounts of lavender. But it still smells very very strong.

Have ago, it's so simple and they look great!

"It's quite incredible to think we might be able to save the world through fashion"

Vivienne Westwood has dabbled in ethical trading and African charity work before, with a range of T-shirts and totes, but this year she has spiralled into a new venture which involves Nairobi, Kenya-based disadvantaged women. These women are making patterned bags for Westwood using recycled materials. To help her with this she has joined forces with The United Nations International Trade Center, who will help Westwood debut her ethical fashion collection.
The bags are made from 100% recycled materials like roadside ad banners and safari tents.

To help promote her A/W african inspired collection she is shown below in the midst of the Nairobi slums in Africa, photographed by none other than Juergen Teller.

It was hard to choose my fave out of the bags that they have on yoox.com (the only place they are available) but this tote has to be it. I love the clashing colours. I have a real love for African prints at the moment and recently bought a lovely wristband band that I'll upload soon.

Asos has also jumped the band wagon of fair trade with their recent release of an African fair trade line.
