Wish list for Winter!

It would be very helpful if I had some money for this wish list as both are pretty expensive! Now, I have never owned a leather jacket, and I have no idea why! They are a statement item as they are versatile and easy to wear. I need one in my wardrobe! It would be my answer to not knowing what to wear in the morning as they go with anything. I have been looking for so long now for a jacket that I like and I have come to the conclusion that faux leather is NOT the one! So hence the price tag on this baby (however its reasonable for what it is)

The next thing on my list is a leather bag, again it is in the highest price range (as I am a student) BUT this item is to be honest an investment. Its real leather and is such a beauty. It would go with anything. My new philosophy is that maybe I should start buying expensive things that will last instead of spending pennys in drips and drabs on stuff thats only going to last a season. Check this...

I GAVE IN!

IN THE POST...
I hope it fits! Its from
www.beyondretro.com, absolutely great website, I've see so many things that I would like to buy. I will be visiting it again very soon!!

FUTURE PURCHASE OF THIS MONTH

So, once student loans come in and I get paid, I will once again be able to feed my addiction of all things vintage. I have very much missed the charity shops and boot sales. HOWEVER I have had a few projects that have been waiting on alterations. (which are now done and I will post soon). ANYWAY this is a serious gem and a must for my wardrobe. I also would LOVE a glittery one. Its only 15 squidders as well.OK, I know what your thinking. Yes, it is underwear. BUT I feel this could be pretty big, along with petty coats.
I have just taken up one of my mums old petticoats and it looks fab! I even know the perfect combo of outfit for this baby.
QUILT UPDATE
I have come quite far with the quilt. I've had so much fun doing it! It's also a great social thing as me and a friend have been doing it together. We have also been swapping fabric which has saved both of us alot of time and money, plus we have collected a huge variety of fabrics between us. I have loved going to my local fabric shop and rummaging through the bargain bins, as after all it is A QUILT ON A BUDGET! The quilt will probably need to be 4x the size, to make it fit a double bed and hang over the sides.

Scrap the mini and the maxi, its all about the 'midi'.

THE MIDI SKIRT

This wonderful purchase of mine was from a little charity shop in my home town. It was priced at only 2.99! Bargain. I have to admit, that yes, I have jumped on the band wagon of the midi skirt phase. But to be honest, I can seriously picture myself wearing this tons in the next few weeks. AFTER, I have altered it because its a size 18! I have started though, so I will post piccys soon. Absolutely loving the print though. I have been looking for a while for one that I actually like and thats cheap. This one fits the bill perfectly.

Heres some others that I found which I also really liked.

The Quilt Club.

QUILT UPDATE!
The squares are coming in slowly! But I am getting there. This means that I can start putting it together very soon. A lovely friend of mine (who is also making a quilt) has given me some off cuts. We are planning on swapping our fabrics so we get lots of diverese patterns and to save money! Which has majorly helped the collection process! Im so looking forward to putting it together. I feel like I need a few more and then I can start. I shall keep you updated.

Arm jewelry

I saw a bracelet like this on a film I recently watched, I thought it was such a good idea. It would be great for the Summer, so it's a shame I've only just discovered I like them! Still, we do have a couple of weeks left. They had some pretty cheap ones on Amazon (like the one below). They weren't silver, but unlike bracelets, they probably wouldn't tarnish. They are on my wish list!

NEW PROJECT for September.

QUILT MAKING

I have started collecting squares of fabric, and I am planning on making a double sized quilt. I have so much fabric just lying around, but I really like some of it. So to not waste it, making a quilt is a perfect solution.
This is just an example, but Ill post my finished one, when its complete!

I would LOVE one of these, next pay check?? :D

Lets go to Africa

African Safari
A while ago I mentioned that I had a love for African print. I have been on the hunt since & I found this bracelet and a bag (I had found pictures on a blog of a bohemian African bag and immediately needed to have one!)
This bracelet was from Primark! It was only £1.50. But it goes with everything and I've worn it so much since I bought it.

This is the bag that I purchased a few weeks ago. It looks great witha plain outfit as it makes it much more interesting and makes the colours from the bag 'pop'. It was only £16.99 from TKMAXX. It's probably my signature buy of this Summer!

make your 'knick knacks' smell divine!

Lavender Bags For Your Knicker Drawer.

I had some lavender in my garden that was starting to drop. Lavender to buy isn't expensive, but its more rewarding if you use everything that you have prepared. I had to make sure that the lavender dried out TIP- keep lavender in the oven after its been on to dry out. The pattern is a simple heart shape that you can draw your self or get off the internet. There are instructions online that you can use as well. You will also need lace and a button. I also stuffed the heart with cotton wool buds, just beacause I had limited amounts of lavender. But it still smells very very strong.

Have ago, it's so simple and they look great!

"It's quite incredible to think we might be able to save the world through fashion"

Vivienne Westwood has dabbled in ethical trading and African charity work before, with a range of T-shirts and totes, but this year she has spiralled into a new venture which involves Nairobi, Kenya-based disadvantaged women. These women are making patterned bags for Westwood using recycled materials. To help her with this she has joined forces with The United Nations International Trade Center, who will help Westwood debut her ethical fashion collection.
The bags are made from 100% recycled materials like roadside ad banners and safari tents.

To help promote her A/W african inspired collection she is shown below in the midst of the Nairobi slums in Africa, photographed by none other than Juergen Teller.

It was hard to choose my fave out of the bags that they have on yoox.com (the only place they are available) but this tote has to be it. I love the clashing colours. I have a real love for African prints at the moment and recently bought a lovely wristband band that I'll upload soon.

Asos has also jumped the band wagon of fair trade with their recent release of an African fair trade line.

Is that Liberty I hear?

I was invited to a 21st birthday party which was prom themed. Immediately I thought, I'll make my dress! I have had fabric scattered around for months now with each piece linking to some project or idea I had, but never got round to doing anything with. So I hunted out this certain fabric that I knew would look perfect. It happened to be none other than Liberty London fabric.

I didn't realise at the time when I was given it by an old textile teacher what kind of fabric it was. I just knew I loved it! But with age, you begin to realise the impact of such lovely famous fabric and you begin to recognise them. Any way so I decided to make a strapless, heart shaped, short cocktail dress which would also be boned. This is the finished product....

Check it out!!

Once again, check out my new photos on www.fashionbeans.com. Hope you like:)

The statement item I would LOVE.

A brown leather vintage rucksack (back-pack).

mmmm so nice!! I'm going to have to hunt one down in the charity shops. Rather than buying it on a vintage website, as it will probably be extortionate.
Heres some of my faves.
